Past President 2010-2012
I have had the privilege of working with some of you as South Jersey NOW – Alice Paul’s delegate to the NOW-NJ State Board before, during, and after the time that I served as President of that chapter. For those with whom I have not worked before, I would like to share something about my background and experience. I have been a NOW member since the 1980s. Initially, I was a member of Essex County NOW After relocating to South Jersey in 1990, I joined Elizabeth Haddon NOW and then became active in South Jersey NOW – Alice Paul Chapter. My experience with South Jersey NOW – Alice Paul chapter gave me opportunities to participate on several levels. My interest in reproductive rights first led me to become a volunteer clinic escort where I have remained active. I was elected Co- Vice President of Membership for five years, and then served as Co-President in 1999 - 2000, and again in 2006 – 2008. Additionally, I served on the Lesbian Rights Task Force, as a NOW-NJ State Board member and as a state delegate over the past 10 years. I have organized many chapter fundraisers and committees, and supported the chapter in other ways. In 2009, I was fortunate to be honored and recognized for my leadership and dedication by being named to the South Jersey NOW Hall of Fame. Professionally, I hold a masters degree in Reading, a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, and certifications in Special Education and Supervision. I have taught in NJ public schools for the past 17 years and am currently employed by an elementary school in Gloucester County. I am married and the proud parent of a daughter and two sons. I have been privileged to work with South Jersey NOW members for the past 17 years to help the chapter continue to maintain a strong and vital presence in our region. South Jersey NOW – Alice Paul Chapter is one of the most financially healthy and stable chapters in the state.
